short inca trail 2d/1n

For the people who have not much time and still want to see some interesting inca ruins.
Near the entrance of the trail you visit the archaeological site of Chachabamba at about 2000m alt. Then you continue slowly climbing higher to the ruins of  Wiñaywayna, discovered by Julio C.Tello. Still an impressive site with an outlook, baths and storehouses.

ITINERARI:

 

1st DAY:  Pickup in the hotel, by train to KM 104, where you enter the trail. During the trainride you pass some nice villages and enter the Sacred Valley to have nice views at some snow mountains as well.
 

Near the entrance you have a guided visit at the site of Chachabamba and then after about a 3 hours hike also in the ruins of Wiñaywayna.
Night in hostal in Aguas Calientes town.

2nd DAY: An early start to reach the Machupicchu ruins and have good views of Machu Picchu and Waynapicchu already. Walking into the archaeological site, guided tour to the most interesting parts and then in the afternoon return to Cusco in train.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Due to the popularity of the Inca Trail we recomend that you
book as far in advance as possible in order to secure a place. There are only a
limited number of permits issued per day for the trail. We do of course have
many other exciting treks to should you be too late to secure a permit.

What you need to bring:

 

Original passport (everyone- the one you booked with) and your ISIC card (students claiming discount).
Daypack max 20 litres (any bigger will not be allowed into Machu Picchu),

Rain jacket or poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco for a few dollars)

Strong, comfortable footwear

Water bottle

Flashlight and batteries

Sun hat

Sun block

Insect repellent

Toiletries and toilet paper.

Camera, and spare batteries

Swimsuit (it may be possible to visit the hot springs at Aguas Calientes dependent on time of train – 10 soles entrance fee not included in price)

 

Recommendations:

We suggest you arrive in Cusco at least two days before your trek to allow yourself time to acclimatize. The more acclimatized you are the more you will enjoy the trek.
